Principal's Post
Dear Craigslea Community,
As we reach the halfway point of this term, it's wonderful to reflect on the energy and engagement we've seen across our school community. In the past two weeks, our year 2 students had a great day at Nudgee Beach, our year 3 students headed to Downfall Creek and our Year 5 students enjoyed their first camp experience at Currimundi. Excursions and camps are invaluable and important in enriching the learning of our students.
Week 11
This term for the first time in a long we have we have 11 weeks of school. School will finish on 13 December. During week 11 our students will engage in a range of activities both within their classrooms and across their year levels and the school. Our teachers are busy planning these activities to ensure our students have a great last week of school in 2024. All our regular end of school events will take place in Week 10. Please check the Schoolzine calendar for more details.

Celebrating Our 2025 Senior Shirt
Our Year 5 students were thrilled to see the reveal of their 2025 Senior Shirt. This year, students participated in the shirt design process, with Isaac (5SK) providing the winning design, which received the most votes. We can’t wait to see our soon-to-be seniors wearing their shirts with pride next year!
Year 6 Legacy Mural – Leaving a Lasting Impression
Our 2024 seniors have been eagerly awaiting the reveal of their legacy mural, and the final design has now been shared with them! This mural captures the creativity, experiences, and spirit of our Year 6 students, incorporating elements from designs they each contributed. The mural will come to life on the Cool Courts wall of our OSHC building, with students collaborating alongside our artist during Weeks 6 and 7 to paint their vision.
Throughout this year, our Year 6 students explored graffiti art, a form of expression that resonated deeply with them. Inspired by this, they wanted the mural to represent meaningful memories from their time at Craigslea. The mural includes several important symbols:
- House Colours and Stars: Each student’s name will be displayed within a star in their respective house colour, reflecting their pride and lasting connection to their sports houses.
- The Book: Representing the journey of learning and growth at Craigslea, the open book symbolises the wealth of knowledge and experiences shared during their years here.
- The Road: Winding through the mural, the road represents the path our students have travelled together at Craigslea.
- Arrows of Exploration: Arrows pointing outward from the road signify the various paths each student will take as they leave our school, while always carrying a piece of Craigslea with them.
We look forward to seeing our students bring it to life and leave their mark on Craigslea in a beautiful, lasting way.
Staff Appreciation Day
A heartfelt thank you to our P&C and OSHC teams for organizing coffee and treats to show appreciation for our dedicated staff. These small gestures, along with the touching messages from students, were warmly received and reminded us all of the incredible community spirit here at Craigslea.
Thank you to all parents, caregivers, and staff for your ongoing support and commitment to making Craigslea a vibrant, welcoming, and supportive community. As we look forward to the coming weeks, I encourage everyone to keep up the fantastic work.
Yours in Learning,
Melanie Rehm
