During the past two staff meetings, we have used the thinking routine “See, Think, Wonder” to explore the Australian Curriculum website and the Prep-Year 6 Achievement Sequence for English and Maths. This has helped us discover connections across year levels and subject areas.

Over weeks 3 and 4, each year level teaching team will have a day off class to plan Version 9 English and Maths for 2025. Part of this process has involved planning units that connect English to other subject areas. Your children will be exploring some exciting new English units next year!

• What is it about characters in texts that makes us like them?
• How can we learn and teach others to play our favourite games?
• What makes a good imaginative book? 
• How can we use information texts to teach others about living things? 
• Why should all Year 5 students read your favourite novel? 
• How do authors use persuasive techniques to influence others to bring about change? 
• How can we express our opinions?
