Learning Spotlight
It was wonderful to see so many parents at the Information sessions held on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 February. We hope all parents and carers have had their questions about school and class expectations and routines answered. If you were unable to attend these sessions, your child’s class teacher will email their presentation for you to review. If you have any questions, please email your class teacher directly.
Kind regards

In Week 1, I was able to outline the Teach Like a Campion technique, Threshold – a specific way to greet students positively at the door each morning.
Hand-in-hand with this technique is Do Now. This technique is about starting each day quickly and with a quality task. The task should be a predictable activity that students know that allows them to get started actively and with confidence as the teacher completes the Threshold. The secret is the ‘without directions’ part. An effective Do Now will meet 3 critical criteria to ensure that it’s focused, efficient, and effective. These are:
- be at the same time every day so it becomes habit for all students;
- complete the task without any directions from the teacher, without discussion with others and without any special materials (other than those on their desks); and
- should be completed within 5-minutes, with a ‘product’ completed during this time.
There is a need to teach this technique to the class like all strategies and processes, but when working together, the Threshold and DO Now are amongst the best ways to begin each and every day.
