Book Week

This year book week was celebrated this week and we had our dress-up parade on Friday last week. The theme this year was Read, Grow, Inspire. A big shout out to our students and staff who shared the most incredible outfits to celebrate the joy that reading brings us. Also, thanks to our parents who attended the book week parade and for their commitment to helping our students with their costumes – these events are not possible without you!

Our reading during play time has been a huge success this week and we have had many students attend our reading sessions throughout the week. I had such a fabulous time reading with some Prep students. Thanks also to Mr Kleidon, Ms Marhinin, Mrs Wiles and Mrs Abdy for their guest appearances.

Solutions-focused Questions

Sometimes when we see our children challenged with a problem, we want to rush in and solve it for them. When we do this, we may miss the opportunity to show them we believe in their own problem-solving abilities and build their resilience. These questions can be helpful in guiding the conversation towards a solutions-focus:

What do you think is the right thing to do?

What’s the kind/brave thing to do?

Have you had to solve a problem like this before? What did you do?

How much help do you think you need with this?

What would you tell a friend to do in this situation?

What have you already tried?

When is this not a problem? Tell me about what is working?
