Capers
Prep |
Prep students have been having a lot of fun performing a drama scene, based on the theme of the Billy Goats Gruff. They have been practicing using their voice and actions to create a role and situation in a small group. Students performed their drama scene to the class and enjoyed using props to enhance their performance. |
Year 1 |
Bear Moves! What a wonderful performance it was. Well Done Year 1. Students should feel very proud of all their hard work. In class Year 1’s have had an amazing time putting all their learning together to create their Day/Night dioramas. The creativity has been at an all-time high. A great idea for the holidays to keep the students learning could be to set them a reading challenge or have them write a journal of their activities. |
Year 2 |
In Media Arts we have been busy creating an interactive poster that displays a safety or a healthy message for our classmates. We have taken and inserted photos and have recorded sound bites to convey our messages. Our Science learning on Living Things culminates with an excursion to Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre next Thursday. We can hardly wait! Then Colour Run before the holidays! What a fun way to end the term! |
Year 3 |
Grade 3 have been working hard to finish all assessment pieces. In Maths, students have explored the properties of 3D shapes and constructed a guinea pig hutch using playdough, match sticks and straws. In HASS, students created a celebration booklet on either Chinese New Year, Diwali or Harmony Day. Students then presented their booklet to the class. We have some fun filled events in the last two weeks and are looking forward especially to the colour run. |
Year 3/4 |
We are using the Sphero bots to make our mapping activities more exciting. This involves coding, grid coordinates, group work and a lot of patience. In English we are revising comprehension strategies and spelling. We are also excited to share our picture book presentations with the younger grades. |
Year 4 |
The Grade 4s are working hard to finalise our assessment pieces. In Maths, we have finished our unit on angles and symmetry and are revising topics covered earlier this term. We are continuing to look at different techniques in Visual Art. We are very excited for all the school events happening in these last two weeks before holidays! |
Year 5 |
In Design Technology, we have explored the difference between fidget tools and fidget toys. We had some fun hands-on learning to create our own fidget tools. In HASS we have been looking at factors that influence consumer decision making. We have enjoyed learning about probability in Mathematics and have completed some investigations. |
Year 5/6 |
In 5/6W and 5/6J, our teachers have been blown away by the quality of our comparative essays - we have been working extremely hard on editing and refining our work using our editing checklists. Our big focus has been using text connectives to organise our ideas and improve cohesion. In Science, we have conducted experiments into evaporation and exposed different solids to heat to construct fair tests that only change a single variable. It’s the final stretch now and we are excited for the holidays – we have sure earned them! |
Year 6 |
In 6H and 6B we have been working hard to complete this term’s assessments. Preparing for our dance assessment has given us a welcome break from our other and more serious assessment tasks. We are looking forward to having everything done and enjoying the sports days in week 10. |
