Principal's Post
Dear Families,
I hope all our mums and significant others enjoyed a wonderful Mothers’ Day on the weekend!
Under 8s Day – Friday May 19
The theme for this year is ‘PLAY - You, Me and Our Communities’. We are excited to be able to offer this event again and can’t wait to enjoy a fun morning with our early years students to share a morning of imagination, play, exploration and fun!
We look forward to welcoming our families and community members, including many of our local Kindy Kids!
Activities include:
- Tiny Worlds
- Bubble Disco
- Arts and Crafts
- Futsal
- Parachute games
- Zen Den
- Relax and Read
- Sensory play and Potions
- ... and much more fun!
Under 8s Day was initiated by Early Childhood Australia, to create a day highlighting the importance of the early years of a child's life. The first eight years of development are crucial, and these years are when children build the foundations of their view of the world and themselves.
Children are born investigators, and this day aims to nurture their natural curiosity and playfulness. We can do that by providing various experiences and learning opportunities, which will ignite a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
P&C Day – Friday May 19
This annual event acknowledges the hardworking P&C members for their tireless efforts each year to provide support for Qld State Schools. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our P&C at Craigslea. The P&C relies very much on members and volunteers to give their time to support the well-being of our students and staff and to raise funds to improve the educational facilities and resources for our students.
Our P&C runs our Outside School Hours Care, Tuckshop and Uniform shop, Swim Club and Sustainability Group. Most recently our hardworking volunteers have supported a School Disco and Mother’s Day stall for our students and a Coffee and Cake event to celebrate the special mums and significant others. We are also very grateful for the funds that the P&C have raised over the past few years to support the playground upgrades in Prep and Year 1 that will begin later this year.
School Zones
The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and community is of the highest priority. As adults we need to model the way for our young people. I acknowledge that school traffic can be frustrating to navigate at times. Please be mindful of the following:
- Travel at the appropriate speed for the environment
- Adhere to road rules and signage
- Be aware and respectful of pedestrians
- Park responsibly in the right areas.
We are thankful for the strong sense of community we have at Craigslea and for our parents and community members who are helping our students to demonstrate safe and respectful behaviour as they enter and leave the school grounds.
Kind regards,
Nikki
