Capers
Prep |
Excitement is building in Prep as we prepare for our excursion to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. What a wonderful way for young children to interact with native Australian animals. It is amazing watching the children as they make connections between what they experience in their own lives and the needs of animals. |
Year 1 |
Year 1 are learning about transition words to help them write sequenced retells. In Maths we are giving directions and learning about 2D shapes and 3D objects. We are also working on our dance which we will perform in assembly in a few weeks. |
Year 2 |
What’s your favourite? Comparing and contrasting character’s traits is our focus at the moment. What qualities does your favourite character have that you like most? Mathematics is all about numbers and number patterns. In science we are learning about Living Things and the different life stages that each living thing goes through. |
Year 3 |
In Year 3, students are practising using a sizzling start for their narratives. Students have been describing characters and settings using descriptive language and similes. In Science, students are now able to identify the characteristics of a living thing and have enjoyed discovering what living things we have around our school. |
Year 3/4 |
Writing orientations for our narratives, learning about language features such as adverbs and noun groups, completing operations with regrouping for addition and subtraction, introducing simple fractions, completing a fair test in science, researching community celebrations and the journey of the First Fleet. Lots to learn! |
Year 4 |
In Year 4, we are practising our summarising skills in English. We have also begun learning about some of the language features found in historical narratives. In Science, we are investigating the absorbency of different materials. 4W and 4S are very excited to finally attend their Bunyaville excursion next Monday. |
Year 5 |
In Year 5, we have been exploring how authors use language features to persuade their audience. In Maths we have been looking at different strategies to solve addition, subtraction and multiplication problems. We have also been using estimation to explain if our answers are reasonable. We have started our inquiry into the Solar System in Science. |
Year 5/6 |
In 5/6J and 5/6W, students have commenced their inquiry into sustainable travel options and looked at the features of cities in the future. In Mathematics, we have looked at angle relationships and learned about strategies to identify unknown angles. |
Year 6 |
In Year 6, students have been we have been looking at ordering operations to solve equations in complex problems. In Science, students have been conducting experiments into reversible and irreversible changes and discussing the properties of the different states of matter. |
