Principal's Post

Dear Families,

Parents and Citizens Association – thanks!
On the weekend the P and C hosted a welcome BBQ for families new to the school community. This event was well attended by both new and existing Craigslea SS families. Thank you to our P and C for providing this opportunity for families to meet up and connect. This week we also had our first P and C meeting for the year. At this meeting the P and C made a commitment to generously contribute committed funds up to $500000 to replace and upgrade the Prep and Year 1 playground areas. The Department of Education will also contribute approximately $68000 for this project. We hope that work on this can commence soon!

Enrolments
We have commenced our school year with 585 enrolments across 24 classrooms. As I walk around the school and into classrooms it is fantastic to see the great learning that is already underway and the enthusiasm our students are demonstrating. I am looking forward to spending more time in classrooms and watching how our students learn and progress throughout the year.

School Leaders Badge Ceremony
Congratulations to our year 6 students who have been elected to leadership roles for 2023. Our school leaders play an important role representing the student body throughout the school year and we look forward to working with them across the year. The students will be presented with their badges at our Leaders Badge Ceremony on Thursday, March 2 at 2pm in the Hall. Parents will be invited to present their child with their badge at this ceremony.

QParents
The Department of Education has recently released a new, mandatory consent management module which supports the distribution and collection of parent consents for excursions, media, online services (3rd party websites) and SRS participation agreements.

While the school will continue to use schoolzine for communications such as newsletters, newsflashes and other communication, schools are now asked to phase in the sole use of QParents as our method of gaining parent permissions.  This will mean that eventually, the only way for parents to provide electronic consent will be through QParents.

Parents who are not already registered for QParents have been sent their unique invitation code. The code will be sent to one parent in the family who has been nominated as the QParents Account Holder.  Once registered they can add another parent/career as a Delegated Viewer.  Please check your email (including junk) for this one-off code.
