Capers
Prep |
The Prep children are learning about location and direction. We have been using lots of direction words to help our friends find hidden toys. In writing we have been adding details to our sentences to give the reader more information. We are looking forward to Junior Sports Day and Under 8s Day celebrations next Thursday. We hope you can come and watch us compete! |
Year 1 |
This week Year 1 explored the structure of a narrative and wrote the problem and ending to a story. In Mathematics we are counting on from any number all the way to one hundred! We are also measuring the capacity of objects and ordering them from ‘holds the least’ to ‘holds the most’. |
Year 2 |
Year 2 are learning how to write persuasively in English. In HaSS, we have begun exploring significant places around Australia, like Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef. We are loving learning our dance with Mrs Doyle for the 50th anniversary and our next assembly performance. |
Year 3 |
Year 3 have started to plan and write their informative texts about the Great Barrier Reef. In Science we are exploring how heat can be transferred from one object to another e.g., how does heat effect corn kernels (in other words – making popcorn). In HaSS we are reading rainfall maps and discussing how different parts of Australia are impacted by the amount of rain they receive. In maths, it's all about ‘show me the money’ – and tick-tock time. |
Year 4 |
It’s super eggsiting in Year 4 this week with our new feathered additions. While we aren’t experts at raising chicks, we are certainly going to give it a go and ‘wing’ it! Seriously though, what better way to learn about living things and their lifecycles than watching it happen before your eyes. We have our incubator, eggs, and chicks until next Friday. Cracks have already begun to form on our eggs and we are eggsited to watch what happens next. Don’t worry, we are capturing it all on a timelapse so we can watch it over and over. Pop in and visit our chirping friends if you like. |
Year 5 |
Year 5 are learning all about ‘Financial Mathematics’ and real-world application by planning a class party with a budget. In Science, we are getting hands on with experiments as we continue to explore ‘Light’. We are also enjoying practising our performance for the 50th Anniversary. We hope you all come to watch! |
Year 6 |
Year 6 have begun looking into the processes involved in the federal government and how bills may be passed into laws. We also had the opportunity to interview the Honorable Senator Anthony Chisholme who kindly volunteered his time to address Year 6 students about a range of ideas. We asked some hard questions but he was very gracious and understanding in his answers. Thank you Senator Chisholme. |
