Principal's Post
Dear Parents/Carers,
LOST PROPERTY/UNNAMED CLOTHING
An enormous amount of uniform and non-uniform clothing as well as lunch boxes, water-bottles etc have been sorted through. We go to pains to return these items if they are named. It is quite sad the amount of clothing that can't be returned to their owners because of the amount of items that are unnamed. I have two run of the mill children no more or less complex than any of yours. In their thirteen year schooling career, I have had to replace very few items because we did not send ANYTHING to school without an indelible name. It would always find its way back to us eventually particularly if my villains knew their weekly tuckshop treat or special weekend activity was at stake. Teaching responsibility for one's belongings gradually throughout primary school is so helpful in secondary school, when they have expensive phones, electronic devices and uniforms that cost an arm and a leg to replace!
We will put back the water bottles, lunch boxes and unnamed non-uniform clothing in the Lost Property Area just on the other side of the Parent Carpark (between the Senior Toilets and Year 5 Eating Area). They will be emptied and no longer available for collection after Tuesday August 16. We will donate whatever we can, to charity.
PARENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
Early next week you will receive an email with the parent community engagement framework attached. This has been developed based on the school opinion survey and in consultation with School Council, Staff and Coffee Morning participants. We require some feedback to take to the School Council Meeting on August 22, so ask if you would like to have some input, to complete the survey and submit it promptly to us please.
CALENDAR
The Schoolzine Calendar has been updated for the remainder of the term. There have been some adjustments to some activities so please access this from EVENTS in this newsletter or from Calendar in the APP. Please note Reading Club will not take place for the rest of the term, due to our current difficulties with staffing due to illness. Running Club has been discontinued for the remainder of the term, due to only a very small number of children attending.
50th ANNIVERSARY: SEPTEMBER 10 (12 to 4pm)
Plans are well underway for the school's 50th Birthday Party. Don't forget to set aside the afternoon. Please CLICK HERE for the flyer so you know the time of your child's performance.
Have a good week,
Kathy
