Prep 

We are thrilled to be back at school! We are settling nicely into our new term. We are learning a new digraph ‘ck’ and double letters. In Science, we are beginning to explore materials. We’re exploring heavy and light in Mathematics. Get excited for our Prep assembly performance in week 2!  

Year 1 

What is half? How can I show half? Questions we are investigating in Maths this week.  In our new Science Unit, we are investigating Materials, their Properties and how they suit a purpose. In English, we are learning how to write our preference for a character in a narrative story. We are getting excited for our excursion to the Caboolture Historical Village next week.  I wonder what we will learn? 

Year 2 

Year 2’s are excited to be back and thrilled for our excursion next week to John Goss Reserve and exploring the forces of push and pull. We are learning how to state an opinion in English. In Maths, we are focusing on multiplication. 

Year 3 

Everyone has come back excited and ready to learn this term. We are learning about information reports in English. We will be focusing on mapping for Maths. In HASS, we are looking at places around Australia. We are investigating the causes of heat in science.  

Year 4 

We have an interesting term ahead of us, we will be growing plants, researching endangered animals and exploring Africa and South America – all from the comfort of our classroom. A new concept for us will be filming and editing using the iMovie app. This week in Mathematics we will continue our work on fractions and will be examining the structure of information reports in English.  

Year 5 

Year 5 are excited to start our new units of work. This term we are learning about ‘Australian Ballads’ in English, ‘Light’ in Science and the ‘Gold Rush’ in HASS. We will also be coding our own game in Digital Technology.  

Year 6 

We have a busy term ahead of us in Year 6. We have started learning about the road to Federation in HASS and the impact of natural disasters in Science. In English we have started looking at news media and will be learning how to comprehend and write feature news articles.
