PBL & Social-Emotional Learning

The focus for the fortnight is: Be a Learner – We are prepared.

PBL_L_2_.jpg

As we start the term, we have been reviewing the importance of being prepared for learning and how being prepared can help us be successful in our learning journey.

Being prepared looks like:

  • Having had a good night’s sleep
  • Eaten a healthy breakfast
  • Dressing appropriately in the school uniform
  • Arriving on time and being outside the room on the first bell at 8:55am
  • Having all necessary school items here and ready to work (These include sharp pencils, eraser, wooden ruler, hat and filled water bottle)
  • Having the right mindset and attitude for learning

At Craigslea SS: We are prepared. We manage our time so we can finish on time. We make sure we have all materials and resources that we need so we can start promptly. We set goals to help us be prepared and organised – we set up a simple plan or to do list to get the job done. We keep things tidy – We have a place for everything and put everything in its place.

Active School Travel

AST1.jpg

Wednesdays are Walking Wheeling Wednesdays at Craigslea State School. Wednesdays (and every other day) we promote students choosing an active mode of travel to school. This is a fun way to not only reduce the amount of traffic on the roads around the school, but a way to promote physical activity.

This Wednesday, 20 July, to make Walking, Wheeling, Wednesday even more fun we are encouraging everyone to come to school in their pyjamas!!

Students are welcome to wear their pyjamas, beanies, onesies, oodies or dressing gowns, but please remind students that they will still need to have covered in shoes and dress that is appropriate for their normal school activities. PJ_Day_2_.jpg

Craigslea’s Pyjama Day is running in conjunction with National Pyjama Day (Friday 22 July). National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favourite pair of PJs to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care.

The Pyjama Foundation is a non-profit charity who help support the literacy skills of children in foster care. Volunteers called ‘Pyjama Angels’ are recruited to read books and support the literacy of those who need it the most.

There are two ways in which you can show your support and donate to the foundation.
