Capers
Prep |
Prep children had a wonderful experience exploring the Australian animals at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. We have been doing lots of writing about our adventures and talking about the needs of the animals. We have also been learning about days of the week and the different activities we do on each day. |
Year 1 |
In Year 1 we have been learning about the day and night sky. We have made some great observations of the night sky at home and the day sky at school. In English we have been retelling stories using the 5 Finger Retell to help us remember the story. We have learnt that transition words are very important to sequence the story. We have been drawing maps and writing directions to go from one place to another in HASS and Maths. |
Year 2 |
In Year 2 we have been learning about the life stages of living things. In English we have been writing about the characters in our stories. Dragons, Lions and Princess to name a few. Soon we will be comparing characters and choosing our favourite! We have been looking for number patterns and learning how to count money in Maths. |
Year 3 |
In Year 3 we are reading through Kumiko and the Dragon, which will form as our English reading comprehension and writing tasks. In Maths, we have been learning about measurement and why standard units of measurement are important. |
Year 4 |
In year 4 we are exploring how cultures collide in Humanities and Social Sciences. We will be focusing on Captain James Cook’s journey. Humorous poetry is our focus for the term and we are reading about how poets use language to create humour. Ask us about spoonerisms and puns. |
Year 5 |
In Year 5 we are so excited to start our new units of work! In English we are learning all about creative writing in our Narrative unit (you should see some of our amazing sizzling starts). In Mathematics, we are delving deep into number and in Science we are learning all about SPACE! |
Year 6 |
In Year 6, students have been identifying features in short stories that can enhance humour. In addition to this, we have been honing our dance moves for our Dance unit by looking at photos and videos that contain dance elements. Don’t worry, we’ve also been busting moves too. In Maths, we have looked at how PEMDAS can be used to solve operations containing multiple operators. |
