Capers
PREP | In Prep, we have been enjoying our author study of Julia Donaldson. We have loved diving into her books and thinking about what we like and dislike about them. We can now write our opinions down using multiple sentences! In Maths, we are comparing how long things take and exploring what we do at different times of the day. |
YEAR 1 |
In Year 1 we are continuing to write some great Procedures. This week we wrote a procedure on How to Make a Pizza. We are learning to use a variety of verbs, adjectives and adverbs to make our writing interesting. In our Mathematics we are interpreting number stories and identifying the important information we need to know. At home we can practise our doubles plus 1 to solve problems. |

YEAR 3 |
We are creating our Great Barrier Reef sensory poem for our assessment in English, lots of alliteration and onomatopoeia. We are getting very good at working out if we have conducted a fair test in Science and we are saving the planet in HASS with our calls to action around plastic pollution. |
YEAR 4 |
Hello, week 5! Where did you come from? We have been learning about ways to collect, record and display data in Maths and are looking forward to our Big Bang Incursion this week. There are some busy times ahead of us! |
Year 5 |
Well, what an amazing few days we had at camp! We had some wonderful experiences together, collaborating and participating in many challenging and fun activities. We ate heaps of delicious food and are extremely proud of the our achievements. |
YEAR 5/6 |
The year 6s focused on Maths and HASS while the year 5s were having a ball on camp this last week, revising units of measurement and learning about Australian history and the impact on migration and the rights of women. Year 6 Science is continuing with our learning of the impact to Earth’s surface during quake and cyclones, while the year 5s are creating their ‘creature’ to ensure they can adapt and thrive in a particular environment. Writing continues to be a huge focus in all our subjects where we are learning to deepen our writing of TEEL paragraphs to ensure that we provide a thorough explanation and justification of our ideas. |
YEAR 6 |
Here we are…half way through the final term of the year. In the Year 6 classes we have been working on our English writing tasks (writing an evaluative essay about an advertisement) and in Maths, working through a busy guided inquiry question about measurement. In both HaSS and Science we have been able to cover certain aspects of the assessment, but also power through some amazing lessons on migration and women’s rights (HaSS) and cyclones and earthquakes (science). Not long to go now. |
