Social-Emotional Learning

Recently, a number of Yr 2, 3 & 4 students assisted with the planting of our Arbor Day native tree order.  We wanted to fill the gaps in the gardens on the top oval.   It is a harsh environment to maintain but the enthusiasm of the children made it a wonderful team event.  This was spoilt somewhat by the destruction of the plant protectors to be used in combat games.  We are teaching our youngsters about respecting the work of others, caring for the environment and being safe.  This includes children in older year levels.  ‘Bamboo swords’ can potentially produce a bad injury, which fortunately did not happen.

This week, I addressed the Yr 2 & 3 students around caring for this environment.  It is their play area so I have asked for their assistance to help see that everybody helps care for the new plants and the reconciliation hands that OSHC children have contributed to the yarning circle space.

Booklists and Student Resource Scheme

Craigslea, like many schools, is a booklist and Student Resource Scheme (SRS) school.  2022 Booklists have already been sent home but you can also find them on the school website.

Pending approval at our November P and C Meeting, parents will be invoiced for the SRS on day 1 of the new year.  Parents who wish to opt out will need to complete a form (even if done in previous years).  Opting out requires that parents purchase the SRS resources themselves.  Please note that this is a more expensive way of purchasing the resources.

Giving Our Children A Voice

We now have the 2021 school opinion survey data which again, has been mostly heartening.  As a result, we have started meeting with the Senior Leaders, Student Councillors and the Bridge Builders to get their thoughts around how we might be able to improve on those items that are not as high in agreement as we would like.  From this, the Positive Behaviour for Learning team will use the feedback to draft the action plan for 2022.
