Principal's Post
Dear Parents/Carers,
Well Term 1 certainly went out with a bang! It certainly was a disappointment to end the term that way especially for the younger children who were keen for their Easter Bonnet Parade. As you can see below, staff worked to a program so we could make the most of the last few days and important planning tasks for Term 2, moderation of Term 1 student work and some professional development was undertaken.

Complete planning for T2 |
We are pleased we can commence the term as we were before the lockdown.
Today we have a number of Year 5 and 6 students competing at the Wavell State High School Problem Solving Competition. We will share more about this experience in the next newsletter but there were certainly happy faces ready to start work this morning as you can see from these photos.

Some of our School Captains and Music Captains are attending the Anzac Square Ceremony in the Brisbane CBD today. We will not be attending the Kedron Wavell RSL March on Sunday as a school this year due to the RSL indicating they would prefer reduced student participation due to COVID. However, we look forward to a strong contingent attending from Craigslea next year. We will be watching a pre-recorded Anzac ceremony prepared by Mrs Stockill this afternoon in classrooms whilst Year 5 and 6 will watch the ceremony together in the hall. As COVID plans were so up in the air prior to the holidays, we decided this would be the most reliable way of ensuring students participated in a ceremony. This ceremony will be distributed to parents before the end of this week.
Solar Installation
As you may be aware, we have received late notification on the last day of Term 1, of a major solar installation project occurring in our school this week. This is a state-wide project and the panels are being put on top of the hall roof. This will not affect the use of the hall but we may have some power outages in the early stages of the project which may temporarily effect our telephone lines in and out excepting calling out for emergencies.
Dress Code (IMPORTANT)
Attached to this newsletter is the Dress Code. Teachers this week have been asked to send out reminder slips to those students whose uniform does not align with the code. We have excursions, Gala Days and instrumental music events occurring in the coming weeks as you will see below. Students whose uniform does not align with the dress code and have not applied for exemption supported by the appropriate cultural/religious/medical evidence, will be withdrawn from extra-curricula and school leadership activities and responsibilities. This code is supported by the Education Act and was ratified by our school’s P and C, please assist your child so they can take part in these events and responsibilities.
