Principal's Post
Dear Craigslea Community,
Term 3: That’s a Wrap!
Spring has arrived, and with it, the final week of Term 3. It’s hard to believe we are already three-quarters of the way through the school year! Term 3 is often a challenging one as we battle winter bugs, but together we’ve created real magic in our classrooms and across our school environment.
Show & Shine
On Monday, we look forward to welcoming families into our classrooms to celebrate learning from this term. Our students love sharing their work and achievements with you.
- Years 3–6: 2:00–2:30pm
- Prep–Year 2: 2:30–3:00pm
Parent Teacher Interviews
As Term 3 draws to a close, this is a valuable opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to reflect on progress and set goals for Term 4. I encourage all families to take part in these important conversations celebrating achievements and identifying next steps. Strong partnerships between home and school are key to student success, and as the saying goes, “it takes a village to educate a child.”
Once again, interviews will be held in a “speed dating” style in the hall. We ask families to be mindful of interview times and ensure any children attending sit quietly with parents during the sessions.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program 2026
This term, we conducted a review of our BYOD program, drawing on community feedback, teacher surveys, and input from our Digital Learning Working Party. The group also engaged in professional learning to align with the department’s future directions for digital innovation.
Key needs identified:
- A whole-school approach to building student digital capabilities
- Increased device access for Prep–Year 3
- Ongoing teacher development in digital tools
- Investment in laptops to diversify student skills
Recommendations from the review:
- Continue our current one-to-one BYOD program, which is vital for teaching and assessment
- Review expectations around device use to ensure they remain learning-focused, with annual induction for Year 4–6 teachers
- In 2026, establish a broader community working party to explore sustainable device access options for 2027 and beyond
We will host a 2026 BYOD Parent Information Evening on Tuesday 14 October for Year 3 families. Further details will be shared early in Term 4.
P&C Colour Fun Run
We are excited to finish the term with our P&C Colour Fun Run!
- All classes meet on the oval at 2:00pm
- Students will run in year-level groups, starting with Prep
- Students need a towel and a change of clothes (uniforms cannot be worn)
- A white t-shirt is recommended for maximum colour effect
- Students will get wet and coloured unless families request otherwise
Planning for 2026
We have begun planning for the 2026 school year. If your family is leaving Craigslea at the end of this year, please contact our office via Administration@craigsleass.eq.edu.au to let us know.
R U OK? Day
On Thursday 11 September, we took time as a school to pause and ask, “R U OK?” This important initiative reminds us of the value of checking in, listening, and supporting one another. Every conversation helps to build trust and normalise reaching out when times are tough.
Looking Ahead
This is our final newsletter for Term 3. Where has the time gone? It has been a term filled with learning adventures and memorable experiences. I want to congratulate our staff and students for their hard work and thank our families for their ongoing support.
Enjoy the spring sunshine, a well-deserved break, and we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 4.
