Deputy Principal for Prep to Year 3

Welcome Back to Term 3!
Welcome back to what is shaping up to be a fantastic and busy Term 3, especially for our Prep to Year 3 students! We have many exciting learning opportunities, activities, and excursions planned to engage and inspire every young learner.


Pre-Prep: Getting Ready for Prep 2026!

It’s an exciting time for our future Preppies! Our Pre-Prep transition activities are now in full swing. These include:

  • Joining Prep Music and PE classes

  • Exploring the Prep playground

  • Enjoying reading and craft sessions

These fun, hands-on experiences are designed to help our kindy students feel confident and familiar with the school environment. Please note: these transition activities are only available for students enrolled in Prep 2026. If you haven’t enrolled your child yet, don’t miss out—contact the office today to secure their place!


Prep

English: This term, students will focus on retelling events
Mathematics: Students will continue to deepen their understanding of numbers and begin tackling real-life problem solving challenges.

Excursion: A visit to Shorncliffe Beach will provide a meaningful shared experience to support this learning.


Year 1

We’re excited to see the progress on the playground and J Block upgrades—we’ll keep you updated with timelines for relocations.

English: Students will be recounting how to play simple games, developing clear step-by-step writing and oral communication skills.
Mathematics: Students will expand their number knowledge, practice ordering and naming numbers, and use problem-solving strategies. They'll also be exploring measurement and length, using shapes to communicate their thinking.
Excursion: An adventure awaits at Caboolture Historical Village, where students will even enjoy a train ride!


Year 2

English: Students will express their opinions about favourite places, learning how to provide detailed reasons and descriptions. I'm sure they have plenty of opinions to share at home!
Mathematics: This term includes money problem-solving and using multiplication strategies. Students will also compare and classify shapes—encourage them to spot shapes in their everyday world!
Excursion: A visit to John Goss Reserve offers the perfect opportunity for students to explore and reflect on the features of a great community space.


Year 3

English: This term’s focus is on persuasive writing, as students prepare and present opinions on topics of interest.
Mathematics: Students will build on multiplication knowledge and explore real-life applications. They’ll also investigate and create 2-D shapes based on their surroundings.
Incursion: We welcome the engaging team from Street Science to present ‘Hot Stuff!’—a fiery, hands-on link to our Science unit.
