Principal's Post

Dear Craigslea Community,

Principal’s Message – Welcome to Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you all enjoyed a restful and enjoyable break. In conversations with our students this week, it was wonderful to hear about their many holiday adventures, despite the chilly winter weather. I’ve enjoyed visiting classrooms this week and seeing students settled and engaged as this term’s learning gets underway.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week

At Monday’s whole school assembly, we came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week an important time to honour and reflect on the histories, cultures and achievements of First Nations peoples. A huge thank you to Ms Wilson and our First Nations students who led the planning and delivery of a wonderful assembly.

At the end of last term, each class created a special NAIDOC-themed door or window display. Their creativity and respect for culture were outstanding here are some snapshots of their fantastic work:

Northside Honours Success

Congratulations to our Instrumental Music students who represented Craigslea at the Northside Honours Program last term. This was a valuable experience that gave our students the opportunity to collaborate and perform alongside peers from other schools. Check out Ms Williams' section for more details and photos.

Our 2025 Focus Areas

As we reach the halfway point of the 2025 school year, it's pleasing to see the strong progress we’ve made toward our key priorities. In Semester 2, we continue to focus on:

  • Quality teaching in every learning environment
  • Student wellbeing
  • High expectations and learning success for all students

School Opinion Survey – Have Your Say

The annual School Opinion Surveys will run from 28 July to 22 August 2025. Families, staff, and students in Years 5 and 6 will be invited to share their feedback on what’s working well at Craigslea and where we can grow. Keep an eye out for your survey invitation via email from Monday 21 July. Your voice matters.

One School, One Book – Launching Next Week

We’re thrilled to launch our One School, One Book project next Monday at assembly. We’ll be welcoming Losing the Plot author, Annaliese Byrd, to help us kick off this exciting shared reading experience. This project is all about engaging with quality literature and nurturing a love of reading. Families are encouraged to read along with us at home and enjoy the journey together.

Construction & Facilities Update

Several key upgrades are underway across the school:

  • Year 1/2 Play Precinct – on track for completion by the end of Week 4
  • J Block Renovation – due for completion by end of Week 4
  • OSHC Building – recently refreshed with internal/external painting and new flooring
  • K Block (Music Room) – received an external repaint over the holidays
