Principal's Post
Dear Craigslea Community,
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final fortnight of Term 2! This week has been all about energy, teamwork and school spirit as our students participated in our junior and senior sports days. A big thank you to Mr Beveridge, along with our dedicated teachers and teacher aides, for making each of the three days a fantastic experience for our students.
We also extend our congratulations to our Readers Cup teams who competed against 60 other schools on Tuesday. Our year 5 team placed 10th and year 6 team 19th overall. A fantastic achievement for both teams. Thank you, Mrs Bryce for all your hard work and support of our teams.
Looking ahead to next week, we’re excited to welcome our families to Show & Shine, host our Term 1 and 2 House Shield celebrations, and our Student Council PJ Day will take place on Friday. What a great way to finish off a fabulous term.
Student Voice at Craigslea
Last week, I met with student representatives from Years 3 to 6 to hear their reflections on the year so far. It was heartening to hear what they’ve enjoyed most about the positive changes we’ve made this year. Here's what they shared:
What they love:
- Everyone can participate in Gala Day
- Lunchtime clubs
- Fun learning opportunities
- Multipurpose court activities at break times
- Choir is open to everyone and the songs are fun
- STEM and engaging PE lessons
- Whole school assemblies on Mondays
- A variety of homework options
- Bounce Back and PBL are helping students
- The Igloo is a great space to get help or learn differently
- More support available for students
What they’d love to see:
- A single “Gotcha” slip with all LIFE expectations for teachers to circle
- More Music and PE time
- A lunchtime craft space like the Kubbi
- Name badges so students can learn each other’s names
- A senior student playground and swings
- More morning club options and lunchtime club access
- Teacher sports on Sports Days
- More extension, enrichment and focused learning opportunities
We truly value student voice at Craigslea, and their feedback will help guide our future planning. Thank you to our student leaders for your thoughtful contributions!
One School, One Book: ‘Losing the Plot’
We’re excited to launch our One School, One Book initiative to promote reading for fun and enjoyment. Our whole school will read Losing the Plot by Annaleise Byrd as part of a shared reading adventure during term 3.
We’ll officially launch the event at our whole school assembly on Monday 21 July, with a special visit from the author herself! Families are encouraged to join in at home and share the joy of reading together.

Music Gala Celebration
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Music team for hosting our first Music Gala for 2025 on Friday night. The evening was a celebration of the learning and hard work that has gone into music lessons this semester.
Special thanks and congratulations to Mrs Stockill, Ms Owens, Ms Andrews, Ms Kim and Mr Schick for your leadership, passion and dedication to our music program.
Construction & Facilities Update
A quick update on our infrastructure projects:
- Year 1/2 Play Precinct: A lot has changed in this space in the last fortnight with concrete and turf laid, sandstone blocking and play equipment installed. Our new playground is on track for completion early Term 3.
- J Block Renovations: Internal works are now in progress. Construction will continue into Term 3.
- OSHC Refurbishment: Internal painting and new flooring works commenced on Monday 16 June. OSHC has temporarily relocated to the Hall. Renovations are scheduled to be completed by the end of term.
Please note: Due to the temporary relocation of OSHC, there will be no Assembly in Week 10.
School Cleaners Day: Thank You to Our Cleaners
We’d like to take a moment to thank our incredible cleaning team for their tireless work in keeping our school safe, clean and welcoming every day. Their behind-the-scenes efforts are truly valued and make a big difference to our students, staff and families. We are so grateful for all that they do.
Term 2 Show & Shine
Show & Shine is back in the afternoon timeslot following teacher and community feedback. Please join us on Monday, 23 June for a celebration of student learning:
- Years 3–6: 2:00pm – 2:30pm
- Prep – Year 2: 2:30pm – 3:00pm
We look forward to welcoming families into our classrooms to share our term 2 learning.
With the end of term approaching, I would like to thank our families for their support of our school throughout the term. I wish everyone a wonderful winter break and look forward to another fantastic term.
