Principal's Post

Dear Craigslea Community,

Winter has well and truly arrived, bringing with it some crisp, chilly mornings. We are now in Week 7 of Term 2, and students are beginning to complete assessments that reflect their learning across the term. This can be a challenging time, as the focus shifts to applying knowledge and demonstrating understanding.

During assessment periods, it’s not uncommon to see changes in student engagement. Our teachers are highly supportive and use a range of strategies to help students succeed. These include using positive language around assessment, breaking down larger tasks, spacing assessments to reduce stress, and utilising teacher aides to support learning. Providing students with multiple opportunities to show what they know is a key part of our approach.

If you notice a change in your child’s attitude towards school during this time, I encourage you to reach out to their class teacher so we can work together to support them. Semester 1 report cards will be distributed on Wednesday, 23 June.

Under 8’s Day

A heartfelt thank you to our Early Years team, led by Mr Todd, for organising a joyful and engaging Under 8’s Day. It remains one of my favourite events of the year, as we celebrate the wonder of early childhood learning. We were also delighted to welcome children from our local kindergartens to join in the fun.

Music Gala – A night of celebrating our music program

Next Friday evening, our school community will come together for a spectacular Music Gala, celebrating the talent and dedication of students in our Instrumental Music and Choir programs. From our beginning musicians to our senior ensembles, the evening will showcase a range of performances that highlight the joy of music. We look forward to sharing this special event with families and thank our music staff for their work in preparing students for the night.

2026 Prep Enrolments Now Open

This week, Mrs Wiles and I began Prep interviews for 2026. Following two well-attended Open Mornings earlier this term, we are enjoying the opportunity to connect more personally with our future Prep families. If you haven’t yet indicated your intention to enrol your child or booked an interview, please contact the school office.

2025 Sports Days

Our upcoming Sports Days are nearly here! Mr Beveridge is putting together an exciting and inclusive program of events for all students. Event schedules will be sent home soon.

  • Senior Carnival Days: Tuesday 17 June & Wednesday 18 June
  • Junior Carnival Day: Friday 20 June

Construction Updates

There’s a lot happening around the school grounds at the moment:

  • Our new Year 1/2 play precinct is progressing well, with equipment installation beginning last week.
  • Demolition and asbestos removal have been completed in J Block, and internal works are now underway.
  • OSHC refurbishment will begin on Monday 16 June, including painting and new flooring. OSHC will temporarily relocate to the Hall for two weeks, and the OSHC team will communicate further details with families.

No Assemblies – Week 9 and 10

Due to the OSHC relocation, there will be no assemblies during Weeks 9 and 10.  Our last assembly for Term 2 will be Monday 9 June.
